Delicates is the project of singer, songwriter and electronic producer Mark David Ashworth, currently based in Vancouver, BC. His latest album Dream Logic (2026) continues his search for new grooves while pushing further into the angular and crystalline structures of classic synth pop, with steady drum machine, electric guitar, and vocal melodies that follow the play of language and the imagery of dreams.In 2018, Ashworth began releasing music under the name Delicates with the full-length self-titled album Delicates (2018), a layered and dreamy work of voice, electronic textures, synthesizer, drums and field recordings. This was followed by a string of mostly-instrumental releases: two EPs of hazy beat-driven tracks: Continuous Being Vol. 1 & Vol. 2 (2020) & the album-length ambient mix-tape: Two Channels to the Sea (2022)Ashworth’s work as Delicates follows a long history of other projects. His first album Viceroy (2007) marked the debut of Autobus Records, an Austin-based record label and collective that released a number of influential underground songwriter projects in the late aughts (The Weird Weeds, Brazos, Bill Baird/Sunset). Following a move to San Francisco, Ashworth released his second solo album, Bright is the Ring of Words in 2010. The solo project eventually morphed into a 5-piece chamber folk rock band, Muralismo, which released a self-titled LP in 2014, recorded to analog tape at the legendary Tiny Telephone studios.
